How Is DNA Testing Done

DNA testing is done for many different reasons. DNA evidence can link an alleged criminal to a crime scene.  DNA paternity and maternity testing can identify a child’s father or mother. DNA relationship testing can determine if two individuals are full or half siblings. DNA ancestry testing can determine ethnic origins and genealogical roots.

How DNA testing is done depends on the results desired and the samples available. DNA fingerprinting (or profiling as it’s also known) is the process of analyzing and comparing two DNA samples. Only identical twins have the exact same DNA sequence, everyone else’s DNA is unique. This makes DNA the perfect way to link individuals to each other or to locations where they have been.

Nault Matzen Over 200 pairs of eyes are glued to me as a spirited child screams, “ORDER ME MY MEAL NOW!” This child has refused to order his own hamburger (as he has done many times before) and when I calmly tell him he can either order it himself, or go home without his burger, he goes completely berserk. Yes, I have entered into a “food fare nightmare”—with my formidable opponent, an eight year old child. I feel my cheeks flush as public onlookers wait in complete stunned silence to see who will win—the big one or the little one?

Different Methods Of Paternity Testing

By Groshan Fabiola

Paternity testing is becoming increasingly popular as more and more people are beginning to realize the many answers that paternity tests can provide and the emotional and financial heartache that they can save a person. Paternity tests can determine up to 99% accuracy whether or not an individual is the father of a child. This can be very helpful in child custody cases when a man is claiming that he is or is not the biological father of a child. Depending on the results of the paternity test, the courts can then either force the man to pay child support payments or they can make it possible for a person to discontinue, or not begin to, pay child support payments. There are a few different methods that can be used to determine paternity and these different tests can be done either postnatal, which is after a baby is born, or prenatal, which is before the child is born.

For many years now we have been hearing about how hard it is to be a single mother. They have to hold down a job, maintain a household IE cook, clean, do laundry etc. They in effect have two very demanding full time jobs.

I think it is outstanding that there are so many programs designed to allow a single mom live with dignity. They have access to free or reduced cost child day care. There is “WIC” Women, Infants, and Children. There are education grants, reduced cost housing, free job training, and the list just goes on.

Google “single moms” and you get 19,500,000 results. Lots of programs geared to the the single mom.

You can’t beat them, so go on and join them. That’s among the primary messages of a new book by Cal State Dominguez Hills psychology professor Larry Rosen, who targets parents in his discussion of how and why the youngest generation likes to live largely online – and why adults should stop fighting it. “Me, MySpace and I: Parenting the Net Generation,” from publishers Palgrave Macmillan, was released last week.

After walking readers through the ongoing proliferation of technology and how today’s texting, instant-messaging, MySpacing, iPod-ing, gaming tweens and teens have become what he describes as “a generation that does not know how to unitask, that prefers multitasking to the nth degree,” Rosen advises parents, essentially, to get in where they fit in.

While there are numerous kinds of DNA testing that are available through web sites, there are some that have less of the public’s attention than others.
