Deceased or Missing Mother
Maternity Test
This type of Maternity Test is typically performed when the Possible Mother is deceased and there has been an autopsy performed. A blood or tissue sample from the Medical Examiner's Office (M.E.O.) needs to be sent to the laboratory along with a cheek-swab sample from the Possible Offspring. The sample from the MEO must be a blood or tissue sample that does not contain any preservatives such as formaldehyde or paraffin wax.
Before testing can proceed, you, the client, must call the M.E.O. and verify that an autopsy was performed. Usually, the M.E.O. will have specific regulations as to the next of kin releasing the sample for Paternity Testing. It is your responsibility to follow the M. E. O.'s instructions. DNA Identifiers is willing to work with you and advise you should you have any questions as well as schedule a time to collect the cheek-swab sample.
In the case of a missing person or a lack of autopsy, the Possible Maternal Grandparents can be tested in place of the mother. If the tested Grandparents' genes do not match the client's genes on at least two different gene sites, then the probability of Grandparentage is 0%. Therefore, there would be a 100% certainty that they are NOT the client's paternal grandparents. This result is guaranteed in writing and notarized by the laboratory and 100% conclusive.
