The INS/USCIS, or Homeland Security, requires Embassies to prove relationships between individuals before allowing them to move to, or remain, in the U.S.
In some immigration cases, if the familial relationship is in question and the standard evidence is not strong enough to show proof, the embassy or USCIS either request or require that a DNA Relationship Test be performed (Paternity, Maternity or Sibling). Typically, the embassy or USCIS will notify the sponsor, petitioner, applicant, or beneficiary that DNA testing is needed.
If one or more applicants/petitioners are located inside the United States, one of our knowledgeable Case Managers will arrange an appointment for the sponsor/petitioner to have his/her DNA sample collected in the United States. A copy of the immigration paperwork and/or immigration case number should be provided in order for us to generate the paperwork necessary to generate the case.
If a beneficiary, or other applicant, is outside the United States, a DNA collection kit containing supplies are then sent to the embassy, or embassy appointed clinic or panel physician, who then arranges a sample collection appointment for the beneficiary and other family members in that country. We will provide you with the tracking information for these shipments.
If all applicants are located within the United States we will arrange a DNA Collection for you in your area. When the results are complete, they will most likely be shipped by FedEx overnight delivery to a local U.S. Service Center or U.S. Consulate. We will provide the tracking number for that package.
Once all the samples are received in our laboratory, we begin the testing process. Test turn-around time is dependent on the type of test required and type of samples submitted. Original results are sent directly to the embassy or service center as well as to the applicant/petitioner in the United States and or their immigration lawyer.
